Thailand’s College of Physicians Supports COVID-19 Booster Shot for Greater Protection

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Royal College of Physicians of Thailand is backing the use of COVID-19 vaccine booster shots for high-risk healthcare workers, for greater protection against viral mutations.

The Royal College said in a letter that protecting healthcare workers is critical to prevent the collapse of the healthcare system and to support the morale of frontline medical personnel, who have to work hard and continuously to care for COVID-19 patients.

The letter said the third booster dose is required because it is found that, after receiving two doses of the Sinovac vaccine, the efficacy decreases rapidly within 1-2 months of the second dose. The third dose should be more effective, especially in fighting the Delta species.

According to the Royal College, the system is already used in Turkey, but no results have yet been reported. It is also unclear when Thailand will receive the Pfizer vaccine. However, there have been no reports of adverse reactions to a third dose of either company’s vaccine.

Three doses of sinovac? Really? You're going there.

So 2 doses sucks , but that third one, oh boy, it's amazing? Gives you another what, month?

Why stop at three?

I thought that the plan was sinovac (1) + AZ (1)? Or as that yesterday's plan?

Or are they proposing 2 shots of sinovac followed by a shot of the UNAVAILABLE Pfizer vaccine?

Confusing article, with no link.

Seems like they're throwing everything against the wall now, desperate times.

Why do they call this a booster shot?  What they mean is that HCW'ers want a cax with proven effectiveness.   But they know 1 " booster" shot doesn't provide much protection.   But it's a way to get #1. Then they can start asking for 2 nd booster and finally be vaccinated.

Why is it 'unclear' when Thailand will receive the Pfizer vaccine?  Is it because the order probably hasn't even gone out?  How's the Moderna order going, by the way?  Any clarity on when it will arrive?

Posts calling Chinese vaccine by extremely derogatory names have been removed. At the end of the day this is a Thai government sponsored vaccine and the forum and or yourself can get in trouble for this so stop it.
