BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health has held discussions with 6 COVID-19 vaccine importers over plans to procure 120 million doses next year, in case of further virus mutations.

The importers of COVID-19 vaccine represent all types currently approved by the FDA in Thailand , including AstraZeneca (Thailand), Pfizer (Thailand), Zuellig Pharma (Moderna), Janssen-Cilag (Johnson & Johnson), Biogenetech (Sinopharm) and Bharat Biotech (Sinovac).

The Ministry had informed importers about the need for 120 more doses of second generation vaccines in 2022, which can protect against the mutated variants of the virus and are to be given as booster shots to those who are already fully vaccinated, to protect against the Delta variant.

The importers acknowledged the issue and will report progress on plans periodically.

As for the 120 million dose target, the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) had previously approved the plan, amid skyrocketing numbers of new cases. Thailand currently faces more than 13,000 new cases daily.

Of the 6 types of COVID-19 vaccine approved by Thai FDA, only AstraZeneca, Sinovac and Sinopharm are currently available.

Theyn can't even organize for this year.. So we have to rely on the bad working vaccines for next year.. Sinovac and Sinopharm have proven not to protect enough.. Why not focus on Novavax, Pfizer and Moderna as the people already have proven that they want these

I'm not interested in what you wish to do next year, I want to know when I can get a good jab this year.

"as booster shots to those who are already fully vaccinated, to protect against the Delta variant."

By 2022 there would be many more mutations, delta will be already long gone.

Time to learn fast greek alphabet now.

So the other countries have already ordered (and payed) well into 2023, but thailand is in preliminary talks about future talks

The wrong people to run the vaccine program.

Thai people have lost all trust in the government to protect them.

They keep mentioning Sinovac.

Are they living in vacuum?

It would be a good start to vaccinate the population with 1st & 2nd dose this year,

Your talk is cheap, and live in cookoo land if your thinking about next year...

They must/should/heaven help us realise we are barely half way through this year.

So if I got it right they are making plans! Ich to buy 120 millions.

However, only if the virus will change it's shape.

But then it will too late for ordering, because there is no delivery just in time.

No lab could deliver 120 millions tomorrow and no country could administer in one day.

However, as a HUB......
