WHO Suggests Tightened Measures to Control COVID-19 Spread in Thailand

What more does he want to see tightened? Everything is already closed!

That’s not quite accurate though. Factories are open. Markets are open. A lot of offices are open. Hence, some mega clusters being announced in factories and markets.

I am not saying that they should be closed, simply saying that they are currently open.

The main reason for Thailand's problems is their incompetent vaccine strategy.

Sorry only other alternative is wipe out the population for the almighty dollar. I do not stand by this.

Sweden did not wipe out their population and they never locked down and had no face mask regulations. Life is back to normal there now.

There are basically two ways to circumvent it!

The lawyer's way: use interrogative form. "Could it be that this government may be innefective?" "Is it really the case that this government doesn't do much?"

Trump's way: somebody else said it. "I've been told that this government is ineffective!" "People say that this government doesn't do much!"

Does anyone care what the WHO says?  Their slow and weak response at the start of the pandemic was pathetic, and they've been on the back ever since.

You do realise Sweden hasn't had to deal with the delta variant yet, just wait until it does then come back

It’s amazing the best run societies on earth all run on the fact that businesses and people have freedom to make their own decisions. And the system runs very efficiently. Yet, during covid, all the sudden, the people can’t decide how to best go about things. Amazing! And all the sudden, government is the most efficient entity on earth.

What on earth has government ever run well or efficiently? Letting people free to protect themselves is the only sane answer.

You mean like in Brazil, where there are virtually no government restrictions. How did that work out?

Here's a graph comparing Sweden's mortality performance to its 3 Scandinavian neighbors. Each of its numbers has about half the population that Sweden has. Adjusted accordingly, Sweden's performance still doesn't exactly look brilliant.

Never mind that lockdowns have not been proven to lead to better outcomes

Italy would disagree with you...after the most severe lockdown in the West, the country is pretty much normalized now. My friend is traveling there this month...everything open, no masks in sight. People working and getting on with life.

YOU can stay locked down permanently, stay home, stay safe, never leave your house again, the rest of us will get back to living....living, which includes dyeing.

What's the process of coloring fibers, yarns, or fabrics got to do with covid?

China recommended early that measures implemented in the west were not adequate and western leaders didn't listen either. They're all the same, politicians

Firstly, not in favor of strict lockdowns but Sweden was far from a success.  A sparsely populated county compared to Thailand, roughly 1,500 people died per 1 mil.  Population adjusted equals about 100,000 Thais.  Roughly 100,000 more Thais would need to perish to equal Sweden success.

Common sense - wear masks, stay away from groups and figure out this vaccine screwup.  Definitely don't try to emulate Sweden.

In the end, About the same as it woulda worked out with govt regulations,as far as covid number are concerned.

Extremely short sighted and even obtuse not to mention or think about current and projected deaths caused by lockdowns.

what is clearly going to happen over time is Swedish deaths are going to be lower relative to other countries. In the end it is going to be close to a wash. Yet, Sweden didn’t lockdown. Make any sense? I would assume not.

Read Swedish newspapers from March, April, May, Jule last year, if you can, and you will get a different picture. Read Swedish social media from nurses and doctors during the same time period, if you can, and you will get a totally different picture. Check the numbers for November to February...

Last time I read a post from you, you compared Belgium, a country with a population density of 383 per km2 with Sweden which has 25..., Belgium which has many more multi generation households with Sweden, which has among the fewest multi generation households in the world. Disregarding demographics, you came to the conclusion that Sweden had done so well.

Hmmm, please compare apples with apples and you get the true picture. May I suggest that you write a post comparing Sweden with Norway, Denmark and Finland, countries with the same demographics.

How many Thai's lives will be destroyed by these lockdowns? How many suicides, ruined business, lost schooling, social issues. There is a HEAVY price for this that you are dismissing.
