Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha gave an assurance today (Tuesday) that vaccination services at Bangkok’s Bang Sue Grand Station will continue as normal, but social distancing measures must be tightened and walk-in services will be suspended from August 1st.

From August 1st, vaccination services at this facility, which are currently limited to elderly people and those afflicted with any of the seven underlying diseases, will be extended to cover those over 18, especially women who are over 12 weeks pregnant and people who weigh more than 100kgs.

The prime minister’s assurance refuted speculation that the facility will be closed down or transferred to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

Now if only they had vaccines!

Young Thais I know have had their scheduled appointments moved back, and moved back again, due to lack of available vaccine.

This govt is long on talk, short on delivery.

How many times have they announced the exact same vaccine acquisition deals?

They blew it last year, assuming they had beaten the virus and had no real need for vaccines. Since then, their strategy has been to mouth off and make it seem they are on top of things, when the reality is they are woefully behind the curve and unlikely to get things under control well into 2022. The Thai people are being crushed under the weight of the govt's abject incompetence.

Also, under license to produce AZ, why is it only today they are announcing an end to AZ vaccine exports? Obviously money has been far more important to those in control than the health and safety of the people they ostensibly govern.

Couple this vaccine rollout disaster with the economic fallout from closed businesses and lockdowns, and a majority is building of Thais with nothing left to lose. Odds increase daily for a total breakdown in society. It's a powder keg just waiting for a spark. Like an on-off switch, things could light up in an instant, because the fear, anger and growing hopelessness are all there.

1 hour ago, it is what it is said:

this is excellent news for thailand; it took the uk, with a similair population size, 5-6 months before they started to vaccinate the over 18s cohort

But the UK vaccinated to a different schedule, health care workers, elderly, vulnerable and then age descending. Has all the vulnerable, elderly and health care persons been offered or able to get a vaccination yet?
