ANW (Aberdeen New Thai Investment Trust) RIP

Featured Replies

ANW is the only investment trust (closed ended fund) listed on the London Stock Exchange investing exclusively in Thailand.  It's done pretty well over the years, and has avoided investing in the most blatantly corrupt companies in Thailand.  Unfortunately, it's now going to merge with another investment trust (AEMC), and the resultant merged trust is going to invest solely in China.  This is disappointing for investors, taking away one of the very few offshore options for investment in Thailand (and the onshore options are almost universally dire).

Yes I saw this earlier today. Had thought about it in the past but never got round to pulling the trigger.

Smacks of opportunism as, if you specifically wanted China, presumably you wouldn't have invested in either..........
