BANGKOK (NNT) - Thai boxer Sudaporn Seesondee lost 3-2 to Ireland’s Kellie Harrington, who is the top seed and considered the favorite to win gold, in the women’s 60kg boxing semi-finals at the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday.

With a bronze to take home, Sudaporn is Thailand’s second medalist in Tokyo, after taekwondo champion Panipak Wongpattanakit.

Sudaporn will get at least 6.8 million baht for taking bronze. Under the National Sports Development’s bonus scheme, an Olympic bronze medalist will receive 4.8 million baht, while Bangchak and its partners will give two million baht for Thai boxer winning bronze.

Additionally, the National Olympic Committee of Thailand gives an Olympic medal winner a monthly salary for 20 years, with a bronze medalist receiving 8,000 baht.

Is that really the photograph of a Thai female?

My Thai wife watched the fight live on BBC TV and asked me several times if it was the Women's Boxing category. Both the Irish contender and the Thai opponent appear very masculine.
