Popular Post webfact
Picture: Banmuang Less than two weeks after reports that the Hua Hin Recharge project was dead and buried at least for this year comes renewed hope. The private sector man in charge of the scheme for Thai and foreign tourists to return to the resort Krot Rojanasathien was upbeat at a Zoom meeting chaired by deputy governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Phrompiriya Kijanuson from provincial HQ. Krot told the meeting that if foreigners didn't have to quarantine from October 1st then 100,000 tourists would visit in the fourth quarter and they would spend 1,200,000,000 baht. In addition 89,000 jobs would be created. He noted that so far nearly 90% of people in the tourism industry had been vaccinated in Hua Hin and 30% of the general public that comprises 90,564 people in total. Picture: Banmuang Hua Hin Recharge was Stage 3 of the plan that started with the Phuket Sandbox and has now been expanded to Koh Samui. It is all part of PM Prayuth Chan-ocha's grand 120 day reopening of Thailand, reported Banmuang, and involves widespread vaccination programs, marketing and PR, risk assessments and mitigation measures and the assurance of the locals that they wont catch Covid. Local TAT rep Isara Sathapanaset spoke on the marketing to Thais and foreigners and the assurance of locals outlining the hoops that foreigners needed to jump through including Certificates of Entry, vaccinations abroad, tests on arrival and bookings at SHA and SHA+ facilities. Phrompiriya listened to all the comments and said that it was vital that 100% of people in the tourism industry and 70% of the locals were vaccinated. He called for liaison with Cha-Am (in Phetchaburi) in the recharge project. He then did what people in his position always seem to do, notes ASEAN NOW. Set up a sub-committee to move things forward. At no point in the Banmuang report was it mentioned that Thailand is in the grip of its most serious stage of the pandemic to date - including in Prachuap Khiri Khan. Or that misgivings about the opening up to tourism have been expressed from others in the industry as previously reported by ASEAN NOW based on sources in the Thai media. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-08-12 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Popular Post DaLa
Did the news that the province is deemed a dark red zone not reach him. The only things open presently are "overnight elderly care centres" and I presume although there aren't specifically mentioned, crematoriums. What an enticing holiday destination that's going to make.

Kwaibill
What tourists? Domestic folks, many of whom now have no income? Foreign tourists who are effectively banned? Hisos for whom there is what attraction in Hua Hin? The ferry service from Pattaya was not discontinued because of an overwhelming demand.

Popular Post Charlie Halliday
Wish it was true but can't see it happening. And forget sandbox plans. Either people can visit without any restrictions other than a test on arrival or forget it. Simple as that.
IAMHERE
14 days quarantine is about $1000; plus another $150 for covid insurance. How much does that come to for 100,000 tourist ? Try around 3,500,000,000 baht. Oh, that doesn't account for the cost to the tourist for air and a covid test before flying. I won't mention the aggravation involved in obtaining a COE. Other than a love interest why would any tourist visit Thailand with the current restrictions, costs, hoops and red tape involved? Stargeezr
Maybe by November of 2022, most thai residents will have been vaccinated, and some businesses will be open. I sure do not want to go and see any ghost towns, and that is what a lot of Thailand is looking like these days. Nor do I want to face the present fees and rules, and chances of having to quarantine for 2 weeks. Geezer

Charlie Halliday
TAT spokesperson said today that unless Thailand reopens this year, it will take the tourism industry 8 to 10 years to recover. The economic devastation from covid has only just begun.
