There is nothing in the rules for 60 day visit thai family extensions that say the father must have legal recognized parental rights to get the 60 day extension.. In fact the only change in the visit thai family extension that I can see happened recently was when some up country immigration offices refused to issue the 60 days on a free stamp (visa exempt) entry, telling the applicant that if they had a 90 day Non-O they could get it but not on a tourist visa or free stamp entry. Although with that being said, IT Square Laksi Plaza will issue 60 day visit family extensions to people with half thai children here on free stamps I know of people who have half thai children born out of wedlock that have been getting single entry Non-O's then a 60 day extension based on visit thai family at their immigration office for years and years. Someone did it every 5 months like clockwork for many years until the child was old enough to take to the amphur and get him recognized as the legal father when he could finally get the year extension. As long as the O/P had the child, the mother, all the documents birth certificate, house book, thai i/d of the mother, they should have gotten the 60 days. I haven't heard of any blanket policy change that you need legal parental rights to get that extension
