Obtaining A Second Us Passport

Featured Replies

It seems from the thread on ghost visa runs that it is legal to leave Thailand with two passports and mail one back to your home country from a neighboring country to obtain a tourist visa. This being said I've only got one passport.

I'm from the US and went to the US embassy located in Bangkok's website. It seems perfectly legit to apply for a US passport at the Embassy. My questions are these.....

since I already have one US passport how hard is it going to be to obtain another one? Can I just simply say I need two because I travel often and they will be OK with that? I'm just not sure how to approach this. This is also assuming that I'm able to get a US passport as a US citizen living here in Thailand from the embassy. I'm fairly sure it is possible based from the website.

this could have fit into your other new thread, but nevertheless...

US has different regulations from the UK. You're not allowed to have 2 US passports... so the ghost visa run illegal thread wouldn't be workable in your case.
