Police have arrested a 24 year old Thai man who took a bus driver and ticket collector hostage at gunpoint in the Lad Prao area of Bangkok on Sunday.

It happened on the Number 8 bus with staff released first before the suspect's mother came to persuade him to give himself up. It was over by 2 am.

The man reportedly told police that he was stressed after being unemployed for four months and that he had a number of other personal problems.

The bus conductor told police that the man had boarded the bus at about 11pm just like any other customer and had sat inside the bus without incident.

It was when the driver asked the man to leave the bus at the end of the route that the incident occurred.

The suspect was taken to Lad Prao police station for questioning, reported Daily News.
