Hi All,

Please see the pictures below, I have this Travertine stone facing all around my house and in certain areas its starting to just crumble away.  I would like to do something to at least try to prevent it getting any worse if possible as to replace the whole lot would be a huge job.

I was looking at using stone penetrating sealant such as the TOA Penetrating epoxy sealer or the Jotun Penguard Clear Sealer.

I don't have any experience in this type of thing at all and was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue or could recommend a solution to this problem.

Appreciate any help or advice whatsoever.

Thanks

It's a common issue because Travertine is basically limestone and is full of holes. Even with smooth travertine tiles underneath it's like swiss cheese. Sometimes the water that hits it will react with the environment or some other components and creat mild acids which eventually eat it away. I remember they used to sell a special epoxy sealer for this but I have seen people use regular tile grout to fill the holes and gaps first.
