Police launch crackdown on China Project with casino raid resulting in 15 arrested and two extortion victims freed

After a series of five exposes detailing China Project’s infamous activities of slave  and bonded labour, extortion, drugs, violence and suicide cum reported murders, Sihanoukville gendamarie finally launched a raid on a casino hotel at Ocheatel beach. Preah Sihanouk provincial gendarmerie Chief, local police, Seang Sok, Prosecutor of Preah Sihanouk Provincial Prosecutor’s Office led the raid comprising heavily armed gendarmerie and police officers, took part in the raid after a series of shots were fired at the beach front hotel cum casino at about 8pm last evening.

 

Brig General Heng Bunthy is believed to have received direct orders from Gendarmerie Chief, General Sao Sokha, prompted by the violence report at Ocheatel beach as well as the series of exposes by Khmer Times, which outlined the criminal activities taking place at The China Project, an online gambling, crypto currency, phishing and other computer crimes, including extortion, exploitation and human trafficking for sex and other illegal activities.

 

Preah Sihanoukville police reported that criminals fired up to six shots at police as they fled into a nine-story building located near the beach, later identified as Xihao Ying Casino, located in Village 4, Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville Province.
