Apple Tv And Satellite Connections

Featured Replies

Will apple tv work in Thailand - presumably one needs a decent internet connection to download content - Who are the best providers for sattelite internet connections ?

An apple tv will work, in so far as, it will sync with your local Itunes PC.

(If you're bringing one from the US - the voltages are different, so you'd need a step-down transformer, and you'd need to use the component or HDMI connections, as the TV's aren't NTSC).

For internet access - it hooks up to the same network as the computer (that has Itunes on it), -so get the internet working for the PC first (probably through a WiFi router if you don't want to have a cable going to your Apple TV.)

Once it's working for the PC - you'd just download stuff from Itunes (or convert stuff like XVid, etc. to AppleTV compatible mp4 files, and add them to your Itunes on the PC - and let them sync across).

Obviously, there are hacks to get the Apple TV to play Xvid files directly, but they seem like a lot of work.

As for satellite internet, I think CSLoxinfo is the main supplier, but I haven't heard good things about the speed, price or service generally. You'd probably be far better with ADSL (you don't say where you are that you're looking to go with a satellite connection).
