Huawei Indonesia has renewed its agreement on cyber security collaboration with Indonesia's highest cyber security agency, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency, reaffirming its commitment to supporting cyber security information sharing (BSSN).

During a signing ceremony on Monday, Huawei, BSSN, and Institut Teknologi Del (IT Del) renewed their MoU (memorandum of understanding), launching a new tripartite cooperation agreement.

Huawei is a multinational information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart device manufacturer.

Huawei and BSSN will continue and expand their collaboration beyond capacity-building to facilitate advanced learnings, professional certification, and competence upgrades on cyber security issues under the renewed MoU.

Meanwhile, under the terms of the new partnership, IT Del would be created as a cyber security collaboration hub for colleges throughout Indonesia.

Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Huawei CEO and founder Ren Zhengfei, Huawei Asia Pacific president Jeffery Liu, and Huawei Indonesia CEO Jacky Chen all attended the signing ceremony.

Minister Pandjaitan also conducted a high-level meeting with Zhengfei to commemorate the top global ICT provider's renewed engagement and long-term commitment to Indonesia, particularly in the area of cyber security.

Pandjaitan expressed his gratitude for the participation of Huawei's Indonesian representative office during the meeting.

"You are fortunate to have an Indonesian representative office here, which has helped to popularise Huawei and its technology.
Huawei's commitment to not only building digital infrastructure in Indonesia but also developing digital human resources and transferring high technology is demonstrated by the establishment of Huawei Academy in Indonesia and the tripartite cooperation between Huawei, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency, and IT Del "he stated

"I am confident that Huawei can contribute significantly to Indonesia's green development and smart future.
Digital property will be one of the most valuable assets for the next generation in the coming years "Added he.

Meanwhile, according to Zhengfei, China not only represents a big, unexplored market for Indonesian exports, but it also has a few examples of using technology to improve critical operations.

Indonesia, for example, might learn to integrate intelligence into the day-to-day operations of the country's many critical ports and airports, or use 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), wireless, and radar technology to significantly improve coal mine safety, he said.

"Huawei appreciates Indonesia's long-standing support for our Indonesian team.
With China and Indonesia showing a strong trend toward collaboration and shared success based on mutual respect for each other's sovereignty, political systems, and social customs, we hope that together we will set the groundwork for Indonesia's future "'It's true,' he said again.

BSSN chief Hinsa Siburian and IT Del Rector Togar M. Simatupang were also present at the signing of the MoU and partnership agreement.

Since the agreement was signed in 2019, Siburian has praised Huawei for their strong work.

"I hope that, in addition to the current programmes and activities, some necessary improvements will be made in the areas of research and development of 5G technology, where Huawei's experience delivering 5G technology in many countries will become one of the very advantages BSSN requires so that BSSN has an overview on how to formulate national policy in security 5G cyber technology," he said.

In terms of cryptography development and application, Huawei has extensive expertise integrating cryptography into its numerous technological solutions, allowing BSSN to research its applications, he noted.

According to him, BSSN actively supports the three parties' cooperation—BSSN, Huawei, and the Del Institute of Technology—as a type of partnership between the government, commercial players, and academia.

"We express our deep gratitude to Huawei and the Del Institute of Technology for paying close attention to cybersecurity issues and for their eagerness to engage with BSSN in implementing cyber security," he added.

"The renewal of the MoU symbolises a new milestone in our cooperative cyber security project," Huawei Indonesia CEO Jacky Chen said. "It will involve additional universities and reach out to a wider public to benefit from this programme."

Since the beginning of 2019, approximately 7,000 government officials and civil employees have benefited from Huawei and BSSN's collaboration through various training events, webinars, and joint projects.
