The much anticipated reopening of holiday resorts Hua Hin and Cha - Am could be delayed yet again, according to Udom Srimahachota of the Thai Hoteliers' Association who has responsibility in the area.

SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) related to the reopening to foreign tourists are the stumbling block, reported Thai business media.

These need to be finalised by the end of next week but Udom said that they are inappropriate for Hua Hin and Cha-Am, have the wrong conditions and are inconsistent with the requirements of foreign tourism.

He plans to meet with Yuttasak Suphasorn the Tourism Authority of Thailand governor on October 12th in an attempt to iron out the finer details of the requirements ahead of representations to the CCSA.

But the bottom line is that both resorts may have to delay plans for foreign tourism once again.

They can open whatever they want.

Nobody comes so short notice unless there are some very desperate ones.

Let's hope they take another 6+ months to get back to normal, as I'm buying a house there.

If it's open to domestic tourism then they should concentrate on making that attractive, foreign tourism will follow in good time.

And so will all other regional plans.  Then it will be December 1st.  Then January 1st.  Then Welcome to 300 ppm Thailand.  Don't worry - you gotta wear a mask 24/7 anyway.  Then it will be "Foreigner Will Arrive In Droves For Songkhan (but no play water or drink or go to jail).  Then...............................

Well then we've come around 360 degree and are setting up for the same thing once more.

If your reports are so vague, having no details at all, you would be better off not reporting at all.

You mean... another bloc ?

Those... blocs start to be a large number. ????

Anyway, nothing will change on november 1.

"Chanthaburi has banned all sales of alcohol until further notice. Including all stores. They state this will help stop Covid-19 and parties they claim are fueling more cases."

This is the reality on the ground. Madness. Only Phuket decided to authorize alcool in restaurants (recently).

I live outside Huahin and haven't missed the tourists at all. That said, there are lots of empty buildings and it's hard on the locals.

Can't please everyone I guess.

'...iron out the final details of the requirements.'   Yikes.  Lost 90% of the potential tourists already with that.  Put the iron away.  The only requirement should be fully-vaccinated.

the requirements regarding which connected people are going to make the most money from the scheme??

Even if they DO open, where will the foreigners come from? Until/Unless Swampy airport is open and Bangkok open too, no one can get here, can they?

That is the underlying basic principle: quarantine free entry for vaccinated tourists from Nov 1.

Now wait until this is torn down and that's it then with "winter season".

BKK airport is "open" of course but currently with quarantine only.

The clowns in charge just don't get it. But no wonder, they are Military and/or just not used to think and listen.

Look at Central America and the Caribbean, many countries are welcoming tourists and have simple entry conditions.

The much ballyhooed November 1 reopening to vaccinated foreigners is going to be delayed.

Surprise, surprise.

I guess my December 15th opening forecast is looking more promising, and maybe by January

there will be more people wanting a bit of a Winter tourist season.  Oh well it is only October 9th, so

still 9 weeks until mid December.

Geezer

Ah, we have an optimist ????

I had my wife call the Shareton Hua Hin(Cha-Am) to see if they were taking reservations as the SHA+ hotel they are listed as... They had no information and here is the real sticky point; They have no limo or transport to get me from the BKK airport to their hotel... That will be a show stopper as you have to travel in a controlled environment till you get tested and cleared to wonder about... I am hoping for this but already booked a 7 day ASQ in BKK as a fallback plan... LOS the Land of Starts/Stops!!!!!

Poor Thais are suffering but you're all right Jack.

Nice!

These "requirements" are what's keeping lot's of people home. I would be willing to move by year end, if I didn't have to jump through the hoops within hoops that I already have to jump through to get there. I'm a simple dude, but I am learning quickly that Thailand isn't as simple as I am . LOL.
