3 ferry ports and a marina are being planned in Phang-Nga and proposed for central government funding in catering to the needs of local peole and serving tourism. Phang-Nga Governor Winai Buapradit exaplined that the three facilities are a ferry pier from the village of Ban Namkem to Koh Kor Khao, a ferry port at Ban Sam Chong in Thakua Thung to link with Koh Yao island and a ferry port at Koh Yao to link tourists with Phuket and Krabi. He also revealed that a marina project at Koh Yao is also under feasibility study and if it happens it can accommodate yachts from LangKawi and Phuket. The governor stressed that if the government suport the projects, they would lead to more sustainable tourism in the region.
