Irans weapons kept in reserve

Featured Replies

Iran is revealing new military capabilities as its war with Israel and the US enters its fourth week, and the regime still has more cards to play, from as-yet-unseen missiles to allied militias and sleeper cells abroad.

The missiles fired at the US-UK Diego Garcia base demonstrated a range of around 2,400 miles, far beyond previous estimates of Iran’s capabilities.

Tehran’s military also deployed the Haj Qasem, a newly developed medium-range ballistic missile with a half-tonne warhead, for the first time this week. Iran’s most powerful weapon, the Khorramshahr-4, has been used in greater numbers in recent attacks.

Regime officials remain bullish despite heavy personnel and material losses inflicted by US-Israeli air strikes, and are threatening escalation.

Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said in an interview this week that: “We are using weapons in this war that we have not used in the past, and we will use them more in the coming days.”

After a sharp decline in Iran’s rate of fire of missiles and drones after the first days of the conflict, open-source conflict trackers say both launches and hits have increased, amid reports of declining interceptor stockpiles in the region.

Deep Dive Defence, a pro-Iran military analysis blog, said that Iran has been practicing a strategy of “low intensity preserving warfare” in the hope of exhausting the US, Israel and Gulf allies, leaving high-value targets exposed to more damaging strikes.

I'm no fan of Iran but I do believe in national sovereignty and self-determination.

The US did this in Korea and Vietnam to what end. Iraq, Afghanistan, Grenada, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela.

Personally, I hope he TACOs and leave his ally to duke it out.

Who else do you have on your scorecard?

The OP must be a hoax because Trump said he had obliterated it all, and he never lies, does he?

Iran is saving their ammunition, while the US is depleting theirs at a fast pace.

This war isn't finished in a long time, and new surprises will surface the longer it takes.

Wait until Trump decides to put boots on the ground, and see what happens then.

And they keep doing it. The end result? Personally I think we're on the brink of a world war.

Surprise surprise, Iran has long range missile capability, just like the Israelis, Saudis, and Emiratis said. Oh no said the British and Europeans, Impossible. They told us they didn't have it. It is an opinion shared by the anti Israel brigade of Asean Now Forum . I can hear them now; What would those silly arabs and jews know. They know nothing because we, westerners know it all. Iran had previously threatened to incinerate European cities. Maybe a few. missiles dropped on the the likes of Corbyn and friends will get the arrogant and smug Europeans and British to listen to the Gulf Arabs now. I know that they won't listen to the Israelis, but the Saudis have been right about Iran all along.

Sleeper cells abroad ?

So far the cell are still sleeping. Very disappointing.

Iran should take the war to US shores too.

US hits Iran's nuclear sites , I ran targets theirs.

An eye for an eye.

The man who cried bomb: Netanyahu spent 30 years warning Iran’s nuclear weapons were “imminent”

Netanyahu began issuing such alerts in the early 1990s, during his time as a member of Israel’s parliament. In a 1992 speech to the Knesset, he suggested that Iran was within three to five years of achieving independent nuclear weapons production.

He would go on to reaffirm that assessment in his 1995 book, Fighting Terrorism, arguing that Iran’s nuclear intentions posed a dire challenge to global security. The idea of a narrow and closing window to stop Iran’s nuclear program soon became a recurring theme in Netanyahu’s diplomacy.

In 2002, he testified before the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, advocating for military action in Iraq while linking Baghdad’s suspected weapons programs with those of Tehran. The United States invaded Iraq the following year, though subsequent inspections found no evidence of weapons of mass destruction.

That is really a non sequitur. Bibi's book, Fighting Terrorism. The man must be terribly conflicted! P.S. Iran will have the bomb in 24 hours, just like Trump ended the Russian war.

I wonder how the general US public will eact to that?

And how that will affect his wish to receive a peace prize?

He was correct. Your dismissal ignores the repeated operations Israel undertook to disrupt and delay the Iranians. The targeted sabotage, the neutralization of nuclear weapons specialists, the intercept of nuclear weapons equipment etc.

Do you think it's OK to make stuff up if it sounds plausible?

Report: Netanyahu's 2012 Iran claim contradicted by Mossad

"Iran is 70 percent of the way there and ... well into the second stage. By next summer, at current enrichment rates, they will have finished the medium enrichment and move on to the final stage," Netanyahu said. "From there it is only a few more weeks before they have enriched enough for a bomb."

A month later, his own spy agency, the Mossad, sent a top-secret cable to their South African counterparts that contradicted his pronouncements.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/report-netanyahu-iran-bomb-claim-contradicted-mossad/

And Mossad was referencing a claim made in 2012. Netanyahu had been making alarmist claims since the mid 1990's.

One opinion from one analyst in an intelligence service that is leaked is not a definitive assessment. Mossad is not some perfect agency with magical all knowing, all seeing powers. Like other intelligence agencies it has its shares of incompetents, political appointees, idiots and people who make errors. Shinbet and Mossad weren't very effective on October 7 were they?

I expect that there are other assessments from other analysts who have a different position.

You expect? That's the best you can do? Expect? I think Israels's extraordinary intelligence penetration of the Iranian government including its military has been well demonstrated.

But here's a few items re: US intelligence:

This one from 2007

US spies give shock verdict on Iran threat

Intelligence agencies say Tehran halted weapons programme in 2003

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2007/dec/04/politics.topstories3

Here's a recent one:

Trump is not interested in listening to US experts on Iran’s nuclear program

what were the findings of the 2011 national intelligence assessment re irans nuclear weapon capability

There's plenty more as well. What have you got to offer?

Sadly, as foolish as this war is, it's beginning to look like Iran is playing 3 dimensional chess to Trump's tiddly winks.

Each ~$30K drone uses up 3 Patriot missiles on average. Soon many more targets in the Gulf and Israel will be open to Iran's better missiles, because the Patriot and THAAD systems will be fresh out of "ammo".

It is increasingly clear Trump did not expect Iran to behave as it has been. Trump likely thought Iran would cave after a big blast or two. 100% guarantee Trump did not think Iran could halt crude and gas passage through the Strait, despite the fact the intel community would have told him that was a certainty. Similarly, Trump did not think Iran would hit GCC Gas and oil production facilities, or even tourist sites in the Gulf...again, despite the fact the IC would have told him that was likely.

Last year Trump had Gabbard fire Mike Collins, who was the IC's Iran expert. Collins would have told Trump how Iran would react if attacked and how Iran might prosecute a war, but in MAGAstan, who needs expertise when you have hunches and gut feel based on nothing but delusions of grandeur.

I hope Iran does not have better weapons in reserve, but their behavior so far suggests they had a plan, and Trump and Netanyahu are about to see what that plan is. Better Trump admits he blew it, try to go to the negotiating table again, and please....no boots on the ground. No patriots need to die for Trump's errors and idiocy.

Really really dumb to carry out policy based on hunches, especially when one is a moron, as Trump shows every day he is.
