The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved Siam Bioscience Company Limited, a Thai company, as a qualified production site for AstraZeneca vaccine and added the company to its Emergency Use Listing (EUL).

A letter, dated October 11th, from Dr. Rogério Gaspar, director of the WHO’s Regulation and Prequalification Department, addressed to Dr. Etleva Kadilli, director of the Supply Division of UNICEF, reads as follows:

“We are pleased to inform you of the positive recommendation of an alternative manufacturing site,  Siam Bioscience Co., Ltd. , 99 Moo 4, Banmai, Bangyai, Nonthaburi 11140, Thailand, for the AstraZeneca (COPVID-19 vaccine suspension for injection.

This site includes the manufacturing of drug substance and drug product.

I guess the issue is that the Lab was never granted approval by WHO on it's production of AZ, even though AZ itself had been approved elsewhere.  I looks like it comes down to the Lab meeting certification and the procedure to make the AZ vaccine matching the formulary and the process as elsewhere.

I guess the wheels of industry within WHO are very slow to give a thumbs up.

AZ must have had approval/testing from somewhere as it's been manufacturing, supplying and administering AZ for a long time in Thailand.

I seem to  recall a pretty prompt 'thumbs up' to China over their announcing the discovery of the first Covid infections  etc.. but that is water under the bridge!

That's a relief-I didn't ask where my AZ jab came from!

Now all they need is to start producing it larger quantities.

This whole thing doesn't seem to be well thought out.

At least there not producing Sinovac here.

Sinovac, Sinopharm and Sputnik have been approved by the the WHO but not by any Western regulators.  So the bar at WHO must be a pretty low.

Me too. Relieved as well.

All that matters is that it is now approved by the WHO.

UK gov't already accepted it a few weeks ago. Handy for all those already vaccinated with 2 x AZ that wish  to travel.

More shall be revealed after the smoke has settled.  I look forward to outside investigative journalism uncovering the lies, deceptions and manipulation concerning this entire Covid affair. History has shown that power is often abused by those up high.
