BANGKOK (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon has visited Khon Kaen to inspect the flood situation, during which he called for systemic management of water for the purpose of mitigating effects from both flooding and drought.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon and members of the Cabinet visited Khon Kaen to inspect the flood situation in the province. The delegation received a briefing on the situation at Khon Kaen City Hall, and was also informed of the progress made by the National Water Command in water management. They were also briefed on the Office of the National Water Resources’ systemic approach to addressing floods, water management at Ubol Ratana Dam, and local irrigation water management and weather forecasting.

Afterward, Gen. Prawit inaugurated the switching on of long-distance water pumps that have been set up to address recurring drought in Khon Kaen’s Phu Wiang and Chumphae districts. He then met with locals in the province’s capital district and handed over 600 sets of relief items to flood-affected people.

In his capacity as the director of the National Water Command, Gen. Prawit noted that relevant agencies needed to manage water in a way that ensures adequate supply for consumption throughout the dry season. For this purpose, 28 water propelling machines have been procured for use in the uplands.

Meanwhile, flooding along the Chi River has yet to resolve. Ubol Ratana Dam has reduced its rate of water release to 10 million cubic meters to reduce the impact of water flowing from Khon Kaen into Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, and Yasothon. However, water was still flowing into the reservoir at Ubol Ratana Dam, which is already at 93% of capacity and is expected to reach full capacity on October 20.

Such technology...

I'm surprised these experts are capable of managing to wake up in the morning, let alone manage water.

Oh no, not another water meter!!  Every time they come to save us it means putting another supply line and water meter to our house.  We now have three water meters but still have supply problems??  Oh well at least I can get some exercise each day checking which meter will give us water this time lol.
