Cambodia will begin reopening to tourists next month, but Americans are advised not to go

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — Cambodia's government has announced plans to reopen the country in several stages to fully vaccinated foreign tourists starting at the end of next month, but both the U.S. State Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are advising Americans not to go.

 

The program beginning Nov. 30 will allow fully vaccinated visitors to skip being quarantined if they stay at least five days in designated areas, the country's Tourism Ministry announced Tuesday.

 

Earlier in October, the CDC warned, "Because the current situation in Cambodia is unknown, even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants," adding that travel should be avoided if possible.
