I'm transferring my clunky old VCR tapes to DVD by simply running a Scart between the two machines. Using a Philips DVDR 3380 DiVX model and Panasonic DVD-Rs.

Image quality seems as good as the original tapes, which isn't saying much, but I was pleasantly surprised there was no drop on Standard Play recordings of 2 hours per DVD.

Problem is my 2006 laptop won't play the DVDs at all ... says d: drive is unaccessible. Any way I can get it to play this format? Thanks.

d: drive is unaccessible is not a normal error code when it cannot play a disc. Can the drive play any type of disc?

Did you "finalise" the disk on the Phillips machine?

On my Pioneer 720H this is an essential step if they disk are to be read on a computer.

Ok, thanks for finalization advice. Plays on computer now. BTW don't buy a Philips if you like intuitive controls! No online manuals either.

Oh, another question ... why the limit in the final Video files folder of 1,048,512 MB x 3 or 4 MPEG files typically for a movie? And the Audio folder is always empty! With Cyber Link Power DVD Player these MPEGs have to be clicked on one by one through the film. How to play seamlessly?
