Just Returned From Pong Nam Ron

Just to clarify a few details. When you get your exit stamp from Thai immigration at this checkpoint, there is a small sign which states something like; travellers entering the kingdom without a visa must show paid, confirmed onward travel documents, air ticket or other.

In fact they are selling 200 baht bus tickets to Siem Reap which seem to satisfy this current requirement. The ticket booth is located in that covered breezeway going to the casino, on the opposite side from the numerous vendor stalls. If you already have an air or rail ticket, or possess a tourist or non-immig visa, you don't need to buy this.

Apparently, you now need (2) photos and an additional copy of your passport data page because upon entering Thailand again, immigration is keeping one copy with a stapled, attached photo for their records.

On a sad note, there are now 3x as many Cambodian child beggars on the little footbridge as you cross. It would be nice to think some of that 200 baht "tax" could go for helping some of the disadvantaged Cambodian kids but I'm sure it's buying new S.U.V.'s for immigration.

I was actually thinking on my way home I wish I had brought some bagged little care packages for the kids, hygiene products, some healthy snacks. Sad situation, help if you can.

On the subject of TM.7 temporary extensions of stay, I already had (1) ผ.30 (paw-30) visa exempt entry and a 7-day extension. I received my 2nd ผ.30 and was told I could get one more. So, it would appear, much like Lopburi3's vulcan logic suggests, TM.7 extensions are not normally included in the 90-day calculation. No guarantee they can't be in isolated circumstances.

Nah, it's not complicated. I just re-read what I wrote and gave myself a headache. You could write a thesis paper on the subject :o

My Vulcan logic was for a visa entry extension of stay - for a visa exempt entry my logic would say it will be counted at part of the 90 days and another entry will receive a 23 day permitted to stay stamp (if they notice it).

Hmmm...I guess we're going to have to wait 'til next month (right?) before we can get a definitive answer. By the way cali, as of writing do you have any plans to do another 7-day extension to this, your current 30-day visa exempt entry? :o

My ordinary human logic would say that the 7 day extension would not be counted in the 90 days, simply because it's been paid for. I think they're just putting a limit on the freebies, so if you pay them 1,900 baht for an extension they're more than happy to let you stay.

I would tend to agree with jeebusjones, but honestly after lopburi3 mentioned it may be different depending on which visa (or not) the extension is added on to it's hard to say. Probably a judgement call on the part of immigration. No more 7-day extensions for me. At 1,900 baht a pop it's just getting too ridiculous. :o live long and prosper
