BANGKOK, Nov 2 (TNA) – No one violated a restriction on alcohol consumption at eateries after such premises were allowed to sell and serve alcoholic drinks to customers, according to the national police chief.

Pol Gen Suwat Jangyodsuk, commissioner of the Royal Thai Police Office, said that after the government allowed the sales and consumption of alcoholic beverages at eateries until 9pm every day, police and officials from concerned organizations including the Public Health Ministry inspected their operations to see if they observed the rule.

He said officials did not find any violation and they were informed general people of the reasons why the measure was necessary.

Stayed on Sukhumvit last week, everywhere we went they were selling booze but not in glasses. Even big chains selling wine were serving in paper cups. This nonsense needs to be ignored.

What a complete and utter farce.

Sat in soi 8 not that long ago and the police arrived in force....about 12 of them.

They all lined up with the maitre'd of a popular restaurant took a photo of themselves altogether and went.

Would be nice if they explained it to the whole country as to why they're necessary, I'm still none the wiser & totally confused. ????

Bringing happiness to the people.

I wonder how much they were paid to look the other way?

When walking street was open and the police inspected all premises they also found no proof of prostitution in walking street. Yea right!!!

Just give the BIB those gloss alcoholmeters to dip in the coffee cups ....success guaranteed ! ....And fines flooding in .....????

Because of the workload of the BIB having to check that the restaurants are towing the line

overlooking of the many bars openly serving is not checked due to the envelopes being back in use.

The whole thing is just a big farce
