Red Bull "Boss": Latest committee chief promises "transparency" and "speed" in investigation

It is a case that has dragged on for the best part of a decade mired in alleged  corruption and delay.

Yet the head of the latest investigative committee looking into the affair of Vorayuth Yoovidyha - known as Red Bull Boss - is still promising transparency and speed.

Speed is actually at the center of a latest story on the case reported by INN - how fast was Boss going when he hit a senior police sergeant of the Thong Lo constabulary on a motorcycle and dragged him several hundred meters under the wheels of his grey Ferrari.

It happened on September 12th 2012 in the Thong Lo area of Bangkok.

Charges were dropped against the fugitive after a key figure changed their testimony that caused a huge public outcry leading PM Prayuth Chan-ocha to reinstate them.

Now the inspector general of the police Gen Visanu Prasatthongosot has indicated that he feels that senior police figures have given sufficient evidence already and that pressure was not put on the key witness to change testimony related to the speed of the luxury car.

One general claims he was abroad at a football conference in Switzerland in February 2016 and spoke to a colleague on his return about the case not because there was news about pressure being applied but because they were old friends.

Boss remains abroad somewhere a free man despite being on an Interpol red notice and facing vehicular homicide charges and cocaine taking charges in Thailand.

Visanu continued to assure the public of transparency, no favors to police allegedly involved in malfeasance after the crime, and maintaining that everything will be wrapped up in a timely manner.

With nine years having elapsed the Thai public will be treating those remarks with a high degree of skepticism, notes ASEAN NOW.

  • The only "speed" involved in this case was the speed "Boss" was driving at, the "speed" (and alcohol) in his system and the speed he escaped justice!

  • That says it all really.   The latest but by probably not the last if history is anything to go by.

  • Which would be justice. Why should this guy be put in jail just because he is a billionaire? This kinda crime happens in rural part without the drunks going to jail, and only being fined 50,000 ba

Aha, Aha, "speedy, transparent and fair" is just that Thailand's "speedy" is like a turtle moving backward, this "boss" will not come to an end any time soon, and if it will, is't going to be on a very low key...

"Speed" in investigation a decade later has got to be an oxymoron.

Just give it up guys, we know - and you know - that he's never going to see the inside of a prison cell for this.

They need too add another charge against him......"Poor taste in car color".....if I had the money to buy a Ferrari it would have to be either Red or Yellow and Black - not Gray, a gray Ferrari is a crime in itself.

He's never been on the Interpol Red notice.

In other words they are continuing to drag their feet until the statue of limitations lapses on all charges.

With that speed, Ferrari Joe will be crowned the "prince of Haval".

Maybe so but they are at least held to account in a sense. This individual was/has not despite the multiple factors involved.

Agree, a wee bit.  But 3 mill compensation had to ease the pain a bit.

10 yrs on the run isn't the same as small jail time (probably killed in) or a year of public service, which he'd probably pay someone else to do.

Utter nonsense and more tripe. Few have even been less sincere about the fight against corruption than Cha Cha. Hey Prayuth, what about your promise to fight corruption? I doubt if you remember back this far, but when you and your clowns launched a coup, it was ostensibly to restore law and order, which you accomplished with draconian measures, and to get rid of the rot, and corruption in immigration, the police, customs, the government, and at the highest levels, which you never even made the slightest attempt to do. You substituted 10 foot alligators, with 14 foot crocodiles. And you have spent your entire 7 sad years protecting the elite, those in office, the army, the police, those who are connected, and the super wealthy. For God's sake, you could not even bring the Dark Tao killer to justice, nor the Red Bull creep. Again, busy protecting the wealthy with all of your power.

Ask the government why we hear nothing from the Red Bull family, or their response to the governments inquiries to their heirs where-abouts?

What a joke.  ('Nuff said)

I realize this is Thailand but it's not just about compensation.

A number of serious criminal laws were broken. He needs to answer for his crimes.

Simple, if they really want to find him - offer a sizable reward for his whereabouts and you'd get his address in a week. Should save the Thai govt' a fortune compared to a 10 year investigation.

Why would his name be in the Thai language?

On the Interpol Red Notice main site there is a choice of only 4 languages and Thai is not one of them.

You're are not correct.

They all do like to look important, intelligent, forward thinking and proactive, don't you think?

In most civilized countries there is no statute of limitations on a murder charge.
