OneMoreFarang
I am looking for 2.1 computer speakers in Thailand. They should be good enough to play games and play a little music. But I don't expect audiophile sound. I remember years ago lots of shops had lots of speakers and it was easy to get some. Yesterday I was in Fortune Town and they had few shops with speakers and only few, often very small, speakers. I want to buy something like the Logitech Z623 or Z625. They cost in the USA 114 to 140 USD. I only found the Z623 in Thailand at one shop (RS) for 9268 THB. That's a lot for a couple of small speakers. Any suggestions what to buy and where to buy it? I checked Lazada and Shopee. Lazada doesn't show these Logitech speakers at all. And Shopee shows some dubious offers from shops with no rating and two weeks delivery time. JetsetBkk
Years ago, my local Supercheap had these at a ridiculous price of 390 baht: I tried them on my PC, liked them and went back and bought more sets. They are now on my laptop, 2 PCs and the TV in the bedroom. The picture above is of my spare set. I occasionally check, but I haven't seen them in my local Supercheap for a long time. Lazada now has them for 890 baht (about 20 quid): https://www.lazada.co.th/products/saag-multimedia-speaker-micro-21-800w-blacksilver-i8011689.html (Oops - out of stock)
Thaijack2014
Shopee is selling some: https://shopee.co.th/2.1-Channel-USB-Computer-Speakers-5W-3W*2-Subwoofer-Set-Bass-Reinforcement-Stereo-Speakers-for-PC-Phone-Loudspeaker-i.493421995.11830537626?sp_atk=e6e9993e-0f08-4956-90e9-1914ba9529cf But why not a soundbar? I bought a small soundbar with decent sound, it has its own battery and I can place it anywhere. Because they only use one cable, it is easier setup than 2.1 loudspeakers... Thanks I just want small speakers left and right of my computer monitor and nothing in front of it. Base needs a box with volume, that is why I want the .1 Subwoofer. Anything small is not able to produce any even half decent base. The subwoofer can be below the desk and it will do it's job.

richard_smith237
When you say ‘half decent’... how ‘half decent do you want ??? Harmon Kardon make the best sounding small speaker set up around... Aura Studio 3 are awesome sounding speakers.. 3D sound tech - cost about 10,000 baht.... I doubt better can be found at that price. But, if you just want something to play sound that sounds ok (half decent?) then there are probably many more much cheaper options - IMO its the same as headphones, you get what you pay for in this segment. Any speaker system selling itself a 800 watts output is just trying to have one over on you. Bass? Small driver in the subwoofer with an alleged frequency response 80 Hz to 250 Hz. You'll just have to imagine the E string on a bass. Low B, forget it. He should get the Nano suggested at a minimum. USB speakers; also tinny nonsense. Fine for portability; such as using with a laptop; but severely lacking. I guess the OP chooses to be selective with his thanks; dependent on his mood. Thanks in my opinion decent cost at least 4 digit USD amounts. But those are "real" speakers, not just for the PC. I had something in the range 2000 - 5000 THB in my mind. But I still didn't make up my mind. It would obviously be good to hear them somewhere and not just read/watch some so called reviews from want to be specialist. The USB speakers will be a disappointment. Better than nothing, but a huge compromise. The Nano BT 1090 system should be your minimum. You can hear them at any PowerBuy or similar and then compare them to the others in your price range. I have some Tiger speakers with deeper bass and crisper highs, but don't see those for sale anymore. The 5.25" speakers in the subwoofer really make a difference. Anything less will struggle. The Nano have 4". They are just okay; but better than USB speakers. I suggest you take a USB stick with some high quality MP3 tunes in to PowerBuy or even one of the supermarkets such as Tesco/Big C. Most 2.1 systems will have a USB input. There you will be able to determine how low they go, as the large space should allow for reproduction of the full wave and the clarity of the mids and highs. Doesn't need to be audiophile; but if they cannot produce satisfying lows and crisp highs; you are wasting your money. Without the ability to produce those lower frequencies; nothing will have much depth. Take something like John Pattitucci's Heart Of The Bass with you on 320 kbps MP3 You don't want overblown and artificial bass. It should be light and airy but deep. You'll know what's right once you start listening. The guys are cool with you plugging in your USB sticks to have a listen and will gladly help you. My main speakers - i.e. on the main TV in my office / lounge - were exactly 5,000 baht! When I ordered them the reviews were pretty good so I took a chance and ordered them from Lazada about 5 1/2 years ago. What I didn't realise was how physically big they were! They were called "Microlab Solo 7c" in those days and sound about as good as my old Goodman's Magnum speakers that I left in England. They are now sold as "Microlab Solo 29" on Lazada for 9,000 to 10,000 baht! They appear to have added Bluetooth as an option, but mine don't have it. I have an an excellent 7.1 surround sound system - however, as a desk top speaker the depth range and quality of the Harman Kardon Aura 3 is wholly impressive from a single stand alone system. Nothing gimmicky about it and unless we are going to start comparing with a Naim system then the quality is better than most people are used to. They have them (HK Aura 3) in most of the Malls around Bangkok... pop in and have a listen. Make sure you listen to lossless recording... (not 128k Spotify)... i.e. download Tidal and listen to some of the lossless recordings on there (Tidal identifies what is lossless and what isn’t where its less clear on Spotify Pro). A single speaker it not going to reproduce a stereo image. Nor will the gimmicky lighting effects improve the sound. The OP made it clear that he wanted a 2.1 system; that is, two small speakers for stereo and a subwoofer for lower frequencies. The Aura3 does not fit the bill. It's just a bit of fun. I might get one for the kids; not for music listening on my own behalf.

You are quoting the OP's post where he states that his budget is 2k to 5k and suggesting that he pays double for a system that cannot even produce a stereo image. 5k is the top of the budget; unless it's something special. Though I will say that I prefer the sound of the Aura to the Soundsticks. But you are paying for the design. 10k and you cannot even produce a stereo image. Not even Dolby effects for games. Bruno123
Though this thread has got me interested in looking at new speakers for myself. I used to design and build speakers with friends as a teenager and I also play bass. So I know a least a little about sound waves. I'm not sure where I got the idea that the OP is/was also a musician. So you can spend as much as you like on the latest Bluetooth speaker, but it's ability to reproduce is going to be limited if you have small speakers and a small enclosure. Bottom end will always be missing. They can try to boost the volume of the lower frequencies on these little speakers, but they will always be lacking and your brain will try to make up for the missing parts. Give your brain a rest and get speakers that can comfortably reproduce the frequencies in the first place. The 5" sub in the Aura is not going to go any lower than my 1,000 baht Nanos. The Aura is a lifestyle product and that is for what you are paying. If you want good sound; look at enclosures that can reproduce the notes that you want to experience; rather than spending a lot on electronics that attempt to fool you that they can. That means bigger units in a bigger enclosure; not a small gimmicky and expensive Bluetooth speaker with shiny LEDs. 5.25" speakers were used as mid-range units when I was building speakers. Now they are in sub-woofers :) I listen to Lossless music exclusively. So thanks to richard_smith237 for reminding me that I can take my lossless music on a phone and transmit it via Bluetooth or 3.5mm lead for the purpose of testing. I doubt many 2.1 speakers can play flac/ape etc natively.

digbeth
There seems to be more mid-end 2.0 speakers geared towards desk use these days Personally I had listened to these 2.0 speakers Yamaha NX50 Edifier R1700 and they sound decent enough for the price even specialist computer shops don't have much range on 2.1 speaker these days, definitely more toward lower endhttps://www.advice.co.th/product/speaker-sub-woofer/speaker-2-1
