Popular Post webfact
File photo credit: James Louie Thai media has reported that plans to reopen Hua Hin and Cha-Am to foreign tourism have completely failed. The two resorts around 200 kms south of Bangkok will be concentrating on domestic tourism and hoping the foreign tourists might start to trickle in next year. Udom Srimahachota, vice president of the Thai Hoteliers' Association and special advisor to Hua Hin and Cha-Am said that despite the much vaunted November 1st reopening Europeans have not booked to come to the area. He described visitors among foreigners as "very few indeed". What visitors there were were Thais and 50% of those were business people for seminars. For the remainder of this year and into next he said that businesses would have to target Thai domestic tourism under the "Thai Thiaw Thai" scheme (Thais visit Thailand). He hoped that in January and February there may be some foreign visitors to the area. Meanwhile there were 147 new Covid infections with 48 centered around a Look Chin shop in Soi Chomsin and a further 48 in the community around the temple of Wat Sai Ngam in Pranburi. Many of the rest were clusters at factories in the area. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-11-15 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates Get your business in front of millions of customers who read ASEAN NOW with an interest in Thailand every month - email [email protected] for more information
Popular Post webfact
Thailand’s Hua Hin resort struggles to rebuild tourism with only eight visitors so far Hua Hin ©thailandtourismdirectory.go.th Since Thailand reopened on November 1st, it has attracted more than 40,000 international travellers. The usually popular beach town of Hua Hin, in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, has, however, only seen eight foreign tourists arrive. According to Prachuap Khiri Khan’s provincial health office, these tourists entered the country via the “Thailand Pass”. So far, none of them have been found to be infected with COVID-19. President of Thai Spa Association, Krod Rojanastien, who was among the main drivers for the “Hua Hin Recharge” scheme, admits that the number of foreign tourists in Hua Hin is much lower than initially anticipated. He suggests that the government should resolve issues surrounding the use of the“Thailand Pass”, such as the uploading of documents, switching from RT-PCR tests to antigen tests and allowing direct flights to Hua Hin. GrandPapillon
Maybe the bars remains close as a test to see if Thailand could still be a value proposition without the "entertainment" ???? of course they are not helping their value proposition with all the silly health measures ???? That's what people are doing. They're not tourists though, they have second houses here. My next door neighbour turned up the other day, back from spending his summer in Europe. They stay for a night in Bangkok then get a taxi to Hua Hin.
bermondburi
You can't quarantine in HH because it's outside the 2 hour zone, so stands to reason hotels won't have many tourists apart from people living in Thailand

Stargeezr
Two of my friends are returning to their house in Hua Hin, soon, and another 21 friends will be headed for Hua Hin at the end of the month. The guest house that they will be staying at was very happy to hear that they are coming to Hua Hin, as business is dead. All of them are there until early April, so they may be there long enough to actually be able to drink a beer in a bottle before they have to return to Canada in the Spring. I had another friend that lives in Hua Hin full time, say that it will look a bit different when I go there again as some places are being knocked down and closed permanently. I hope that the Winter months are great for all the visitors to Thailand and other Tropical destinations. Geezer
