Thailand on Tuesday (November 16) reported 5,947 new COVID-19 cases, 7,943 recoveries and 62 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. 

 

▶︎ Infections outside prisons: 5,894. Prisons: 53

▶︎ Recoveries: 7,943

▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 2,001,837

▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 1,891,026

 

Tuesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 2,030,700 with 20,143 deaths.

 

The news comes as the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) resolved to ease more restrictions on restaurants serving alcoholic beverages under the "Thai Stop Covid Plus" certification campaign, in addition to the previous certification of the SHA (Safety and Health Administration) granted by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

 

Starting from this Tuesday, restaurants with the newly approved “Thai Stop Covid Plus” certificate, authorized by the Department of Health, will be allowed to serve alcoholic beverages until 9 pm.

The BMA lifted a ban on alcohol consumption in restaurants on November 1, allowing SHA-certified restaurants to resume dine-in services with the sales of alcoholic drinks permitted until 9 pm.

Officially down again from yesterday but include ATK and it's up a bit but is tracking down for now. Update on school. All teachers must have another ATK this Friday following last Friday's ATK test. School to open for P6-M3 next Monday. Students not required to be tested or show evidence of negative test. It's going to be the next to useless temp. checks for them.

Health officials on Monday (Nov 15) reported 60 new COVID-19 cases, 15 were found in Hua Hin.

Elsewhere in the province, 17 cases were found in Pranburi, 3 cases in Sam Roi Yot, 0 case in Kuiburi, 1 case found in Thap Sakae, 22 cases in Bang Saphan, 0 case in Bang Saphan Noi, and 2 cases in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan. No deaths were reported today.

It does appear that we are dropping into the lower ranges, albeit slowly, which I find to be a good sign.  The slowness of the downward curve has been something that I have been concerned with in comparison to other countries curves.  However, with looking at a graph @Bkk Brianposted on yesterdays OP we can see that the downward trend is very similar to a neighboring country.  The only question I have is how many are actually being tested.

 

If this Government wants to learn to live with Covid then they need to stop imposing the draconian entry rules they have on vaccinated and already tested tourists and returnees, since they do not require the same for the people who are traveling inside the country.  A side issue would be the new regulations for entry into the KSR location here in Bangkok and the paying of 100Thb for an ATK test if your vaccinations are over 6 months old, plus showing your information as far as certificates go is going to become the norm it would appear.

 

Stay safe folks, with the schools, well most of them back in session look out for those children as they cross the streets and drive safely.  Hoping the upcoming Loy Krathong weekend is also a safe one.  I noticed today that some of the vendors that would be open have signs up indicating they will return next Monday.  I have yet to hear of any closures or regulations being put in place, but if they are and when they are it is always after the horse has bolted.

Reports are also coming out that Chiang Mai reportedly opened a field ICU facilities as the virus outbreak continues to rage in the province.

I think they may be running short.  Pfizer has not arrived, the Moderna is god knows where, AZ is arriving by donations from elsewhere, and Sinopharm and Sinovac well thats anyones guess.

Friend of mine got his first Moderna in a private hospital in BK last week. No 2 next month. 

My niece informs me that the various hospitals in Chantaburi province have Pfizer available for free this week and next, now if I can just get the wife on board. I don't need it, although I am coming up to my 6 months.
