Army trucks and men on standby in case truckers go on strike in Bangkok

 

 

The Royal Thai Army’s (RTA) First Division of the Royal Guards has put a fleet of 34 trucks and drivers on standby to help with cargo transport, in case truck drivers stage a strike to put pressure on the government to cap the diesel price at 25-baht/litre.

Negative COVID ATK test results, proof of 2 jabs required for Bangkok’s Loy Krathong

 

 

This year’s celebrations of the annual Loy Krathong festival, on Friday November 19th, will embrace the “new normal” lifestyle, as all visitors to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s approved venues must show proof of two COVID vaccination jabs or COVID-19 negative test results for a test done within 72 hours prior to entering the venue.

Energy Minister: Diesel Price Capped at B30/Liter

 

 

BANGKOK, Nov 18 (TNA) – Energy Minister Supattanapong Punmeechaow insisted that the government would cap the diesel price at 30 baht per liter and military trucks will take over cargo transport if the policy upsets truck operators.

Indebted students advised to apply for refinancing instead of defaulting on repayments

 

 

In response to widespread defaults on student loans, the Rights and Liberties Protection Department (RLPD) of the Thai Ministry of Justice and the Student Loan Fund will hold a session in December to allow student debtors to discuss refinancing, to avoid being sued.

Thailand’s sea gypsies hope upcoming local elections will lead to improved livelihoods

 

 

Thailand’s indigenous Moken (Mawken or Morgan) tribe, commonly called sea gypsies or sea nomads, living in five of Thailand’s southern provinces have high hopes that the upcoming Tambon (sub-district) Administration Organization (TAO) elections, the first time for many of them to case their votes, will bring about progress in their communities and the betterment of their livelihoods.
