Popular Post webfact
By Namo Vananupong BANGKOK (NNT) - The prime minister and American businesspersons have discussed post-pandemic joint investments, with the US party praising the government’s vision and expressing its readiness to make investments in Thailand. A delegation of businesspersons from the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM) entered a remote meeting with Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha and discussed relevant policies, and the crisis, as well as opportunities, brought about by the pandemic. The prime minister explained the government’s vision in multiple aspects to the delegation, with emphasis placed on environmentally friendly businesses and green businesses. The US businesspersons praised Thailand’s vision and economic policies and affirmed their commitment to proceed in various collaborations. Gen. Prayut said American businesses have invested about 50 billion USD in Thailand to date. The business representatives affirmed they wanted to expand investments in Thailand, and the prime minister made known that the government was focusing on digital, energy, and research and development. The prime minister added that the American businesspersons did not express concern over the political situation in Thailand, but instead offered praise for the government’s work and its policies. He reiterated his call for all parties in Thailand to put an end to disputes and work together to steer the economy through COVID-19. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-11-19 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

If all businesses were about human rights and democratic freedoms, then there would be no child labour sweatshops. They don’t care who they deal with as long as they are free to build their market share. If someone else gets into power then they will praise them, it’s all about profit. Popular Post spidermike007
They praised his destruction of both the Thai economy and the tourism industry? Very doubtful. He is lost in a fantasy world. In addition to the amount they stated was invested, one must never forget what the US invested in Thailand in the late 1950's and early 1960's, when Thailand was a disease infested backwater. That investment in infrastructure here may have been the catalyst for the future industrialization of the nation, and the expansion of the economy. There is little doubt Thailand could never have done this on their own. Granted, the US had geopolitical interests at stake. But, little credit is given to this kickstart of the Thai economy today. Luang Phibulsongkram attempted to democratize his regime, seeking popular support by developing the economy. He again turned to the US, asking for economic rather than military aid. The US responded with unprecedented economic aid to the kingdom from 1955 to 1959. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Thailand Edited November 18, 2021 by spidermike007 4

bang saen guy
I think that confirmation from the US Ambassador on CNN stating that the US gov't approves of unelected governments with no free speech is needed before this is believable.

After it's immediate neighbours of Canada and Mexico, China is the top trading partner with the US. So I think the US stance on democracy and free speach is self evident. Do these folks represent multinationals? Those are Thai companies which pay no US tax and employ few Americans. There's also a better than average chance that the individual delegates are not US citizens.
