‘Joe Ferrari’, six other ex-cops deny charge of torturing suspect to death

Dismissed former superintendent of Thailand’s Nakhon Sawan police, Thitisan “Joe Ferrari” Uttanaphon, admitted in court today (Friday) that he assaulted suspect, Jirapong Thanapat, to extract information about the illicit drug trade, but denied the charge of torturing him to death, saying he did not mean to kill him.

Thai insurance regulator urged to rescind order forbidding cancellation of COVID insurance policies

The Thai General Insurance Association is urging the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) to rescind its order forbidding insurance companies from cancelling the so-called “Found, Paid, Done” policies covering COVID-19 infection, claiming that it may force insurance companies in Thailand into bankruptcy.

Phuket Town residents warned of flooding as canal water level rises

The Covid crisis and its subsequent lockdown and restrictions have kept the tourism industry of Thailand in a stranglehold. Numerous hotel buildings are up for sale or rent and an industry waiting for investors to pick up the slack. One of the persons to do so is the Danish investor Toke Terkelsen. During the last year, he has leased 10 new hotels and according to him the prices has never been lower than right now.

Fuel tariff increase drives up electricity pricing

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s energy regulator has decided to raise the FT rate from January to April of 2022 due to the increasing energy prices around the globe. This tariff increase would effectively raise the pricing on electricity bills to 3.78 baht per unit, starting next year.
