18-year-old to be charged with sexually assaulting a girl in Towner Rd after video ‘confession’

SINGAPORE — An 18-year-old will be charged on today (Nov 25) with sexually assaulting a girl in September, according to todayonline.com.

 

The assault allegedly happened on Sept 21 at a residential unit along Towner Road near the Balestier Road district.

 

In a new release on Wednesday, the police said that they received several reports on Monday after the teenager allegedly confessed to sexually assaulting a girl in a video that was uploaded on social media.

 

The police said that they began investigations immediately and arrested the youth on Tuesday.

 

Investigations into the case are ongoing to determine if there are other victims involved, the police said.

 

They added that the youth will be remanded for further investigations.

 

If found guilty of the offence of sexual assault involving penetration, he can be jailed for up to 20 years, fined, or caned.

 

The police said that they take all reports of sexual assault seriously and will spare no effort in ensuring that perpetrators are dealt with severely and in accordance with the law.
