Still love your Country?
I'm in Pattaya and I recently had my air conditioner serviced. Three guys showed up and worked for 2 1/2 hours. They took the whole thing apart and cleaned everything. Total cost: 2200 baht. That's about $65 US dollars. In the USA, it could have cost 10X as much. -

Thailand Supports Digital IDs for Smoother Airport Check-Ins
The lack of paranoia among a certain section of the AN crowd is truly laughable. All Thai's have to have ID anyway... and all of those ID are already digital and online... So... nothing is new at all, just that these ID's can be used for added convenience. The level of paranoia amongst a certain section of AN crowd really is truly laughable, but to counter that takes to another level which becomes all sad from a 'tin-foil-hat-nutter-doomsday-prepper-get-off-the-grid' perspective. -

Dozens Feared Dead in Crash After Passenger Flight Diverts From Russia
Why not rename your account to "IHateRussians"? You are in good company on this forum. Ya'll move here to South East Asia and all farang expats can do is vocalize their personal hatred for Russians, Chinese, Middle Eastern Arabs, Persians, Indians - have I missed any one, oh yeah - North Koreans. And pretty much anyone else who isn't from the pasty white exceptional West. I find that collective hatred to be unconscionable. Well - if ya'll have weapons industry stocks in your portfolios you doing pretty damn well. Keep up the hatred - if fuels Forever Wars with keeps the stock dividends rolling in on the back of death. What amazes me is that probably most of you are cheering you're country's on to have a war with China. So it happens? Then what? Ya'll be climbing over each other to get on a plane out of Thailand. Amazing Western Farangs! Ya just can't get along with the other people who share this world we live in. -

Belgian 80, Attacked and Robbed by Teenage Gang on Christmas Day in Pattaya
Swords are hard to find in Thailand, though machetes are easy. We have 2 or 3 around the place. Can you please quote a figure or a percentage backed up by a link of how many Thai men actually do pick on farangs. There are so many posts all saying one thing or another but nobody has given a figure that is or can be verified, The original post was that 6 guys on 3 motorbikes attacked the Belgian. A later post says that the police arrested 4 youths but nothing about the other 2 guys. So were there only 4 guys or 6. -

Another question about travelling with meds
Ingredients: Sulfogaiacol, Sodium Citrate, Glycirrhiza extract. Maybe the opium got removed from the formula. A small sip, roll around the mouth to dilute with saliva. Swallow. Do not drink anything afterwards. IIRC 40 baht a bottle. -

Fatal Motorcycle Crash at Notorious Bend Sparks Local Superstition
The "I've been here longer than most" argument is a clutch at straws.... I've been driving here for 25 years and riding motorcycles here for 15 years... that means nothing in this debate. And... as you have been driving here for that long then you have surely shaken your head at the many outrageous and stupid things you see.... Or, when you see something really stupid do you honestly think... "its the roads fault" ??? I know, I know... you'll now argue that with road design the impact of the stupidity is less, because the 'road engineering' protects people when an accident happens, i.e. removing power poles from the road, adding armco barriers etc... ... people doing stupid things will still die on the roads. I've presented that statistic plenty of times - but have also highlighted that as with all statistics the data is incomplete as it only accounts for population basis not per vehicle basis and does not include mileage covered per vehicle - so the result is potentially distorted. That said: for 4 wheeled vehicles - the Thai stat is 4x higher than the equivalent UK stat.
