Bonnie, Is it definitely a pup you want? I only ask, because it can be difficult to know how big pups are going to be, unless you've seen the parents. I'm just wondering, as we've got an adult female toy poodle cross here. She's friendly, socialised, loves kids (she follows my little boy everywhere). I'm pretty sure she was owned before & then dumped when she got mange (which we've cured). I think she's about 2. She will need some basic training as she can be a bit exuberant & is still a little bit insecure about being left alone. She is vaccinated & we'll get her neutered, as a matter of course, anyway. Our center is in Hua Hin, but we've rehomed dogs to BKK before & I have no problem with that. Let me know if you're interested or if it definitely has to be a pup (we have those, too :o )

Hi November Rain,

Your offer sounds good thank you but we'll be away for a couple of months. I'm not sure if we should get a pup or just go for a small dog.

I'll get back in touch where we get back to Thailand!

Read this with interest as I just got through a somewhat similiar illness with my Chihuahua Kadan. He did not have fever, and he's been vaccinated, but he stopped eating and then developed bloody diarrhea..including very bright red blood with clots. Luckily I was visiting my niece at the Mahidol campus in Salaya at the time and they have an excellent animal hospital there. They treated him successfully but owing to language barrier (the vet spoke no English) I never did get a clear diagnosis. Do any of you have some ideas? He's at least 5 years old, was vaccinated for the first time when I got him about 2 months ago. They treated him with IV rehydration, antibiotics and probably antiparasitic drugs (somthing injected IV). I'm wondering about salmonella or amoeba...?

Anyhow he is fine now. The total bill, including daytime hospital admission for 4 days (drop him off at 8 AM and collect back at 4, for receiving IV hydration), lab tests, IVs, medications and doctors fee can to about 1,500 Baht only. It is a really excellent hospital other than the language issue.
