Prime Minister Hun Sen has stated that the prohibition on ten African nations entering Cambodia is being reconsidered.

The PM claimed that he has changed his mind on abolishing the embargo in order to prevent biased treatment of African countries.

The Prime Minister remarked that while the ten nations do not presently have direct flights to Cambodia, officials stationed at the international airport must tighten PCR testing protocols in the event that a transit passenger arrives in Cambodia.

He demanded that the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Secretary of State for Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Tourism, and other stakeholders conduct immediate consultations.

The Royal Government will announce the lifting of the travel prohibition if all relevant parties agree.

Visitors from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Angola, and Zambia are temporarily prohibited from entering Cambodia, according to a decision made by the Ministry of Health late Monday evening.

Travelers who have visited these nations within the previous three weeks are also subject to the restriction.
