Support for Hun Manet as next PM continues to grow

As a series of letters from government officials came out in support of Prime Minister Hun Sen’s suggestion of his oldest son Hun Manet as a future Prime Ministerial candidate, the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP)’s Standing Committee of the Central Committee, has expressed strong support for the move, considering him qualified to hold the top position in the future.

Support from the committee, which consists of 36 senior members, has secured the future job for Lieutenant General Manet, the commander of the Royal Cambodian Army (RCA) and deputy commander-in-chief for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) for the CPP’s Prime Ministerial Candidate.

A letter signed by the party’s Standing Committee of the Central Committee vice-president Say Chhum announced its “solemn support” for Mr Hun Sen’s remarks last week on the future of Lt Gen Manet.
