Daily News reported that the Bangkok governor General Aswin Kwanmuang had mobilized regular police, tourist police and the military to check on areas where there are lots of foreign tourists, foreigners doing business and foreigners living.

Targeted were Silom, Nana, Klong Toei, Khao San Road, Phra Nakhon, Thong Lo, Wattana district (upper Sukhumvit), Yaowarat Road and Samphanthawong.

The media said that teams were checking that Covid-19 rules were being followed and were particularly looking out for travellers from so-called high risk countries from Africa.

Nationals of 8 nations in Africa were recently required to quarantine on arrival.

This all comes after the first case of Omicron was found in a US national.

Since then there have been two more cases of Thais arriving from Nigeria.

The US man stayed in a hotel in the Bang Rak area of Bangkok and two hotels there were the subject of contact tracing and recommendations for deep cleaning and further screening.

Entertainment places and restaurants serving alcohol were checked in particular.

Meanwhile the media also reported along with a number of phone numbers that free ATK tests were being maede available in the Thai capital.

Is anyone checking on the locals too?  It should not be one sided.  But to be honest.  When walking and riding in grab car.  I do see a lot of foreigners not wearing masks in numerous locations. The majority of Thais are wearing masks.  But if there is a sweep to check.  It should be for everyone.
