I will be visiting Thailand (mostly Pattaya) for 45 days . I am 49yr old from Georgia, USA(No Thai embassy near). So, Do I therefore need to make a visa run to Cambodia just prior to the end of first 30 days? If so, are those Visa run places decent enough to stay a few days and check out Cambodia? Do they have tennis courts in those places? Sorry for the silly questions but important to me. Thanks, Dwayne Hoover

Get yourself a 60 day visa before you leave home, it'll save you heaps of trouble. Royal Thai Consulate-General, 3333 Cumberland Circle, Suite 400, Atlanta Ga. 30339 Tel (770) 988 3304

Sir

Follow the above advice, but if you don't want to or can't make the visa as adviced, you may be lucky to get a 15 days extension at the Immigration in either Pattaya or Bangkok. Normally they only give you 10 days, but if you have a confirmed flight ticket, it might work out, but no guarantee though.

Otherwise you can take a day-trip to the Cambodian border and get a new 30 day entry ... and .. I haven't seen any tennis courts at this particular border, it's a pretty pathetic place although they have several casinos there
