Pattaya – The Pattaya News has received complaints from four Variegated plants sellers at the Pattaya Food and Herb Fair at Xzyte Square Pattaya.

 

Ms. Panadda Udomnark, 42, said she lost Variegated plants worth in total 32,900 baht.

Ms. Sudarat Sangsuriya, 34, said she lost Variegated plants worth in total 20,800 baht.

Mr. Kanisorn Wongkaew, 52, said he lost Variegated plants worth in total 90,000 baht.

Ms. Ilada Kim, 25, said she lost a Variegated plant worth 500 baht.

 

They have already reported the alleged theft to the Pattaya City Police for a total of 112,700 baht of lost Variegated plants allegedly that have been stolen.

I expect this is what looks like the new big food court/ market on the triangle of land formerly occupied by the Excite disco, between 3rd Rd, Soi Chaiyaphum (Pothole) and Soi Excite? All these plants were left out and someone turned up with a pickup and loaded them up?

It sounds like the thief cut the stem/leaves and just took the bulb root, usually the size of a chicken egg which a supermarket bag could easily hold 5-10-15 and taken away on a motorbike.  The variegated plant business has taken off in the past few months and those plants that used to sell for a few hundred baht are now worth several thousands and the big ones go for 10s of 1000s.

Best to act quickly on selling these variegated plants. One of these days the people who invested too heavily will find themselves facing the bust that happened to tulips in the Netherlands.
