So then you are suggesting that he or they just happened to have returned from Nigeria is coincidental?

Their is a possibility it was caught inside the Phuket Sandbox from another individual, it is just conjecture on my part, but I find the lag time a little long if this Omicrons infection period is only 3 days.  I wish this country was more open with its information.  I mean how did they go from 9 positives to over 60 in two days.

With a pathetic 7% with boosters.

The optimists that think Thailand will be getting a normal high season could be waiting a few years.

Other countries have procured vaccines and delivered a booster campaign at speed.

Thailand still hasn't even double jabbed 70% of it's population by the end of 2021.

Really disappointing.

At least they are doing better than some of these euro countries.

Thailand’s Chiang Rai province detects first potential Omicron case

The governor said that the COVID-19 infected patient, a 36-year old Briton, tested negative by RT-PCR before departing for Thailand and passed a second RT-PCR test upon his arrival at Suvarnabhumi international airport in Bangkok on December 13th.

He spent two nights at a hotel before flying to Chiang Mai to meet three American friends. The four hired a Thai driver to take them to Chiang Rai on December 15th. On the way they stopped at a service station in Wiang Papao district and at the White Temple, before checking in to a hotel. That evening, they had dinner together at a restaurant close to the hotel.

Was speaking to someone i know today who went to a local restaurant for a meal.

Virus spread like wildfire.

Just reading the sequence of events, including passing 2 PCR tests to gain entry to Thailand, the opportunity for spread is huge.

I would be pretty sure this gentleman would have failed the new 7th day PCR Test.

Then it's off to hospital you go.

New years celebrations cancelled next?

WHO urges cancellation of global holiday events over Omicron spread, Thai government says will continue-for now

WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said this morning, December 21st, “An event canceled is better than a life canceled,” some tough decisions must be made in order to focus on ending this pandemic,” he stated.

Many countries have already canceled the New Year’s celebrations, for instance, New Year’s Eve celebrations in London’s Trafalgar Square, where about 6,500 people would be gathering, have already been canceled for public safety.

Thai Public Health Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, responded to the WHO notification this morning, December 21st, that the government would consider the matter with related government agencies.

Scotland have just cancelled Hogmanay.

With a virus 70 times as transmissible as Delta, Thailand could panic and do anything.
