2022 Is the Year of Booster Shots: PM

BANGKOK, Dec 23 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha called for strict disease controls to contain Omicron outbreaks and wanted next year to be the year of booster shots of COVID-19 vaccine, according to the government spokesman.

Almost 500 kg of crystal meth seized

Customs officers at Bangkok’s Klong Toey port has seized 193.5 kgs of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice”, hidden in boxing punch bags bound for Australia in Bangkok, with a combined worth of about 116 million baht. A bigger lot of the drug – 299 kgs – has also been seized in Ubon Ratchathani province.

Israeli tourist who fled quarantine in Bangkok infected with Omicron variant

The Israeli tourist, who escaped from a quarantine facility in Bangkok and travelled to several provinces in Thailand, has been arrested by police on Koh Samui, in the southern province of Surat Thani, and has tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Bangkok city hall cancels its New Year countdown event, prayer ceremonies

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has decided to cancel the official New Year countdown event and prayer ceremony planned to be held at its Lan Khon Meaung town square and at 50 district offices on the night of December 31st and January 1st due to concerns over the Omicron COVID-19 variant.
