I applied for and received an extension of stay "retirement" visa in the beginning of April, on the back of a Non-Imm B visa. I have recently been asked if I will do some consultancy, and so think I need to revert to my Non-Imm B status. (My Non-Imm B is still valid, until 5 July.)

What do I need to do?

I suspect you lost you B status as soon as you received the extension based on retirement.

I would go to your local Imm office, explain the situation and ask them how to tackle the matter.

You might be able to obtain a work permit on a retirement extension of stay (it has happened) but you could return to B status with a border run without a re-entry permit and come back using the still valid multi entry B visa (assuming that is what you have).
