Thai Visa Postings

6-8-07

HI:

This looks like a great site, I have already picked up a few tips.

I have a Thai girlfriend who lives in Bangkok. I am an American working in Hyderabad, India. I am a manager at a computer call center, we specialize in a particular vertical. The first time I had my Thai girlfriend apply for a visa it was with the help of a Thai woman who could speak and write English ok. My girlfriend can speak English ok, but she cannot read and write as yet. We had requested a 6 month visa with multiple entries. We got a 3 month visa with only one entry to India. I will be going back to Bangkok on June 29, 2007 to visit my girlfriend and meet her family. I want her to come back with me to Hyderabad, India on July 9, 2007 on Thai Air. We want her to stay until November, when I will take an annual trip to America. My girlfriend would then go back to Thailand. On my return trip back to Hyderabad I want to travel from JFK-BKK-HYD. The stopover in Bangkok will let me pick up my girlfriend, get her visa, see some of her friends and family and then move on to work in Hyderabad, India.

The question of this posting is simple, the answer may be not: How can I insure that when I apply for a 6 month visa with multiple entries, that I will get a 6 month visa with multiple entries to India?

I have worked in India for 18 months. I am in the middle of my second, one year business employment visa. I will renew it for one year when I go back to America in November

I am not looking to lie. I know that they (India) are sensitive to an unmarried woman living with an unmarried man. I guess they also want to make sure we are financially stable and do not want to stay in India. My employment visa should take care of that.

Should I be the one going to the Indian Embassy when I get to Bangkok? So I can control things? And bring my passport and work ID and papers? To show my employment and stability in India?

Some practical experience and help in this matter would be great. I have tried to find an Indian Lawyer who could help in this matter, and he cannot be found. Any immigration issue knowledge is limited to the USA or UK.

Thanks for your help, from Hyderabad, India.

it may be tough.

I'm a Thai passport holder (male) and last year I needed to go to India quite often for meetings. Each time I applied for a 6 month mulitple I was only given a single entry 3 monther.

The upside is, she'll be able to get another visa quite easily in BKK. The turnaround times are 1 day for Thai nationals.

I had a thai friend go there a couple of times and 1 day turnaround but single entry I think - no problem getting it.

Just as an aside I travelled there with a Thai female colleague in March. I have noclue what the secretary put down for me when I got my visa but I received a 6 month multiple entry.

My Thai colleague applied for a single entry but they gave her a 3 month multiple entry?

I went to apply for the visa myself this march.....initially they were giving me a one entry, 3 mnth visa....told them i wanted 1 year, multiple.... the lady at counter told me...usually first time they give 1 entry, 3months, on second application they might give 2 entry in 6months....for multiple one year or even the 6mnths they would want to interview.

i insisted i needed longer than 3months...and would do the interview....but then to get a queue for the interview was gonna take forever, so i walked back to the lady...and she decided to give me the 2 entries 6months visa. that was my first time....well not exactly first...but i applied after 16years....so i assume they wouldnt have record of my last entry :o

anyhow..bottom line is....your GF is likely to get double entry for 6months....you want anything more than that you have to give very solid proof as to why :D

good luck....

I hold a thai passport by the way

PS. Hyderabad......and india on the whole.....shocking how expensive the place has become!!! how do people afford hotels there geeeeeeeee!!

EDIT to add question to Prakanong: are you sure? cos I dont think they even have a multiple entry 3month visa? I could be wrong...but thats what I was told......

Thanks. I need 6 months visa, 1 entry might be OK, but to be safe I need at least 2. I guess I will just have to plead my case at the Indian Embassy.

Hyderabad has gotten very expensive. The top hotels are more expensive than New York City. I have not stayed out of Hyderabad except a trip to Goa beach resort. The hotels there were reasonable and a great place to visit in India.
