Buying Electronics In Thailand

I have heard that when one buys electronics from a store in Thailand the purchaser must pay a duty on the item being purchased. The items I am concerned with are TV's, stereos, and digital cameras.

If there is a duty to be paid do locals pay it or just foreigners?

According to the existing law everyone has to pai 7% VAT, Thai's and Foreigners! But there is a way to claim the VAT back if you "export" the purchased goods! Many shops having the required forms available.

Anyway it's a bargain as well to pay or nopt to pay VAT!
