Senator Joel Villanueva, who chairs his chamber's higher education and employment committees, said that he contracted COVID-19.

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Joel Villanueva tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday evening after experiencing fever and headaches earlier this week, according to a statement from his office.

 

He was referring to the results of his RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test which he received yesterday.

 

"I informed all of the people I came in contact with about my situation. Right now, we are all isolating," the senator said in Filipino.
