sbk Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Does HomePro or Tescos in Samui sell them? Or anywhere in Samui? and if not, would Surat Thani be a better bet or just as unlikely?
John 1 Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I'm sorry but I just can't help my-self, I have a Stationary bike but both tyres are flat.
sbk Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 Thats ok john, we all understand you have these compulsions sometimes Thanks Mid, next time I am over I will have a look, or if we go to Surat. Any idea what the prices run?
Mid Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Any idea what the prices run not really low 1,000's ????

The Vulcan Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 SBK - I wouldn't bother with the stuff they have at Tesco's. Really poorly made and won't last. You'll get fitter/slimmer repairing it! Why not ask one of the local keep fit gyms to get one for you? Alternatively, it's the same old story of BKK.

I will look it up. Ah , just looked and it is an exersise bike.

Don't bother with tesco's and you needn't go to Surat either...There are 3 good shops on the Island, notably Red Bicycle in Lamai who sell all the top of the range stuff, one next to Maenam Post Office, and one in Nathon at the Lamai end of the main street. If you don't want to splash out on an expensive Cannondale or the like, I can recommend the top of the range LA Bike model, about 10,000 or a little less. I've got 2 and it's a good bike for Samui, and well capable of off road trips. Good Luck. Steve
The Vulcan Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 it's a good bike for Samui, and well capable of off road trips. She ain't gonna get too far around Samui on a "stationary" bike!

mr_hippo Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 For those who seem a bit confused as to what a stationary bicycle is
meatgrowler Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 For those who seem a bit confused as to what a stationary bicycle is mmmmmm....it seems some tea leaf has borrowed the back wheel, good as an electricity dynamo though i reckon!
sbk Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 Well, perhaps I should then hook hubby up to it, since the bike is for him ---think he can power the house?
Mid Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 your putting hubby on that , gotta be a law somewhere ....................................
sbk Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 your putting hubby on that , gotta be a law somewhere .................................... Hey, his choice, he wants one! Age and weight are starting to creep up on him, I guess. But I do like the idea of hooking it up as an alternative power source while he exercises
Mid Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Hey, his choice, he wants one! all married men know what their choice is .................... all the best with the light bill .
goldfish Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Tesco Lotus have one model for 6900 baht. It's such a boring form of exercise that most people who buy them store them in the shed within six months. And Red Bicycle closed up shop a couple of months back

Cheaper and more fun.
sbk Posted June 15, 2007 Author Posted June 15, 2007 MYOB lite beer Regardless of my sex life hubby has a bad back and the doctor suggested either swimming or bicycling. Bicycling is pretty dangerous on our road, and the ocean will be low for another few more months, so hubby thought the stationary bicycle might be a good idea. However, a friend of ours uses the Jungle Gym in Thong Sala and said the rate is quite reasonable to use the equipment. She works out for an hour every day and says it helps alot. Not sure how motivated hubby would be to drive to Thong Sala to work out but if he isn't that motivated then he probably wouldn't be motivated enough for the stationary bicycle either! Thanks for the info, goldfish, I'll let him know the price.
