No intention to remove it from the government certainly for the whole of this year.

Whats the headline for then?

Magic 8 ball says "Ask again later".

The holidays will remain. How extensive and crazy will the celebrations be? Probably more towards the sedate, traditional side, again.

Hopefully it will be canceled!

We can only hope it will be.

Crazy waste of lives.

Yeah Omicron still marching about, worse ever infections in our village since the beginning of the pandemic.

not sure, why you are asking about cancellation of 5th day test, if you have already bought hotel including one and why you asking about songkran cancellation.

It was enough to buy your hotel in the beginning of April, to enter anytime before songkran. It would be much clear, and probably cheaper, than what is now

Chucking water about might have been cancelled but plenty of people still returned home to their own province

possibly because the Day 5 hotel test is the money making scheme designed to make you pay for a 10k a day hospital

High hospitalization rates also?  Or just high numbers of positive cases?

If were canceled… Sorry for children.

Thailand has many beautiful festivals.  Then there's Songkran.  ????

  • Popular Post

It certainly should be as it encourages drunken antisocial superspreading behavior creating no go areas for weeks at a time. One day is quite sufficient to celebrate the more acceptable family celebration of the new year eg spring cleaning budha washing and respect for elders

Hope so!

Could be either or both I just get the lastest from the Mrs and on every exit / entrance to the village even tiny Soi's there are guard posts checking people in and out.

Probably have more tests by April.

Lets hope so.

Worst ever infection how? How many people have severe symptoms? How many have to be hospitalised (due to severe condition, not as a government policy isolation)?

I refer to my previous post.

My normal inclination would be to flee to Penang during Songkran....trapped like a drowning rat here if not canceled

The reason for me going to Thailand is to see my 10 year old daughter, we haven't spent a Songkran together for 2 years now because of the Virus. All my hotel bookings are refundable, I can't see the point of the Day 5 test as after the first one you are allowed to travel anywhere in between tests, I am hoping they do away with it before I go, I am not going to Thailand specifically for Songkran, it would be nice to celebrate Songkran with her, my house is in Issan so it's nothing like the Songkran in Pattaya.

OP, I certainly hope so, I never was a fan; no, that's being a bit merely mouthed, I have always hated the damn festival, as it brings out the worst in people, mainly Thai's, but also some farangs, who take it as an excuse to be anti social idiots.

Honestly if the water chaos was just one day (like christmas) it would be fine. The annoying part is it going on for days and over a week. There's zero fun in trying to get to work with someone chucking ice water down your back.

Did you consider staying in your own home for the duration of Songkran?

The question is not will SONGKRAN BE CANCELLED BUT WILL THE BARS AND CLUBS BE OPEN.
