Settle out of court to avoid paying police, lawyers fees, court fees.   Insist on a bodyshop estimate for the paint job, don't just pay what they ask. Repainting costs around 3,000 Baht / pa

Using $US @ 33/baht -     20,000 Bt / 33 = $606.  I think I would be happy to see this problem behind me for $600 bucks.  No fuss, no muss, no lawyer, no civil courts, done and dusted just like that.

  • Make up your mind. You admit liability, then gradually change your story till it's either the maid, or not your fault at all. Pay up and stop fooling yourself.

Apparently I got lucky, the second car is a rental car and the insurance should cover it, so I don't have to pay up.

Hence the requirement for independent?

Come on you know better, how will he get a quote without a shop seeing the car? You think the owner is going to let him drive the car around to get quotes? The owner will need to take the car to the shop who is Thai and will talk things over.

You know it’s your fault, stop blaming everyone else and pay up.

The longer you avoid facing up to the fact you will ultimately pay, the more it’s going to cost you.

And has been noted above, this is not a lot of money for the likely consequences if you take this to court.

Pay your dues and learn from the experience.
