He has worked as a martial arts instructor and as a private investigator. He has never fought in MMA but was a successful Taekwondo and full contact Kick a boxing competitor when he was younger. I think you are mixing him up with Dana White who was more famous than Joe until his Spotify contract which made JR really well known due to podcasts which used to be on YouTube but now moved to Spotify which made him really famous..
