Pre Flight 72 Hour RT-PCR Test

Recommended Posts

 **Airport | Histopath Diagnostic Specialists**

Clinic's in all major Aus city airports (and community clinics). Not free ($79 AUD) but can save a lot of brain pain.

May save some worry and panic with trying to make sure your pre flight 72 hour RT-PCR check is lined up with flight tickets/arrival times.

I flew to Thailand 2:days ago and did the PCR test with Histopath in community clinic 48 hours in advance. The result came 3-4 hours later, $79, had no issues at the borders with it.

Cool. Good to hear you had no problems at the borders.

Main reason I posted the link was for people (in Oz) who 'may' have trouble getting flight times coordinated with the 72 hour vaccination certificate time frame. At the very least, if RT-PCR test is done at the airport, you have 72 hours to play with, eg..flight time/arrival time etc. And yes, (some) government RT-PCR testing cost nada (AND don't give a time test results will be returned to you!) but I think paying some $'s in this case is worth the extra expense.

You can't get a travel test for free in Australia, only if you are a suspected domestic case.

There are a few other providers in Australia providing PCR test for traveling, but they all seem to charge around $150 and the result may take up to 48 hours...same day PCR goes to $250 as far as I remember. No brainer to go with Histopath.

Mmmm, strange choice of words "suspected domestic case"
Anyhoo, there are more than 'a few' other providers providing PCR testing for 'traveling' but not to many that have facility's right there for you at the major airports, which is probably where 99.9% of people going OS will be leaving from.

((If you are tested at one of our [Histopath] Airport pre-departure clinics, you can expect to receive your result and travel documentation no later than 1.5 hours after your sample(s) have been taken)).

Well, I was under the impression there was no real difference, test result wise, between PCR and RT-PCR. The same test results are obtained.

*What type of pre-departure test do I need to have before boarding my flight?
At check-in, you must provide proof of an accepted negative COVID-19 test. Approved COVID-19 tests
include:
•A nucleic acid amplification (NAA) test using a respiratory sample or saliva.

*What are nucleic acid amplification (NAA) tests?
NAA tests are a type of viral diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Examples of these kinds of tests include:
•***>>>Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)<<<***

'Free' drive through test results, PCR or RT-PCR are the information/proof you must have to 'travel', and you can get a 'PCR / RT-PCR vaccination test' at any drive through testing site in Australia FREE. These drive through tests are acceptable evidence / proof of vaccination for travel.

Yes, it's definitely a no brainer 'IF' you knew about Histopath and the service they offer. My post was intended for members who did 'NOT' know about Histopath and was posted to inform them that this service was available.

I did not post that information to be corrected over a technicality with a play on words and one upmanship.

Time to shift into a higher gear[box]
