ASEAN NOW News
FILE PHOTO Health authorities confirmed 263,373 new domestic Covid-19 patients Monday, including 180,000 cases in Hanoi detected in previous days. According to VN Express, the three localities with the highest number of new cases confirmed on Monday were Hanoi with 189,326 cases, the northern Bac Giang Province with 4,186 cases, and the central Nghe An Province with 3,883 cases. The new cases bring the infection tally in the fourth wave to over 9.19 million cases. Over the past seven days Vietnam has averaged 150,489 new cases. During the same period Singapore reported an average of 7,449 cases over a 7-day period and Thailand averaged 25,187 cases. So why is Vietnam so far ahead? Naturally, Singapore has a smaller population, however Thailand is a bigger country, but many people are self-isolating and are not being registered with covid. Thailand’s figure could be three times as much, but we will never know. If you've tested positive for Covid-19 in Vietnam, or present any symptoms such as fever, cough, and breathing difficulty, please contact the Ministry of Health hotline immediately at 1900 3228. The officials will give you instructions on whether to arrange a quarantine unit or hospital for treatment. Whereas inb Thailand people are encouraged to self-isolate at home and so many do not report it to authorities for fear of having to go to the hospital.
